This FHFA initiative focused on addressing the impact of foreclosed properties on neighborhoods and communities. Through partnerships with local governments, nonprofit organizations, and other stakeholders, the Neighborhood Stabilization Initiative sought to facilitate the acquisition and disposition of real estate-owned properties held by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in order to stabilize housing markets affected by high foreclosure rates.
